A short description of your work and themes.
My research focuses on the use of organic materials to create evocative images, within which it is possible to trace figurative and non-figurative elements. A recurring theme is the landscape, that I depict into its two basic elements, horizon and sky. The horizon has no boundaries, it stimulates the imagination by taking the observer beyond matter. Every single element of the painting can be considered as a macro and a micro cosmos.
What inspires you?
My inspiration comes mainly from the reality that surrounds me. Part of the inspiration comes while preparing the canvas, an action that helps me elaborate the images I collect. The choice of materials is the consequence of their particular chromatic effects.
Your style in three words.
Concrete, dreamlike / evocative and essential.
What music accompanies your work?
While working in the studio, I mostly listen to Max Richter.
What is the task of an artist today?
The artist has a responsibility towards his work, the responsibility to act freely and consciously. Freedom without responsibility cannot give life to conscious art.

Vittorio Asteriti was born in Crotone in 1984. He graduated from the Professional Institute for Graphics and Advertising in Crotone and then he attended the University of Calabria, Department of Arts, Music and Entertainment.
His pictorial research is expressed through materialscrumbly and inconsistent at a first sight; they take shape on the canvas creating a world of shades and moods. The search for abstraction is also expressed by his vision of the landscape, portrayed in its essentiality, through the two most recognizable elements, horizon and sky.
His works are shown in several collective exhibitions in Italy and abroad, and some solo shows, including in particular the one in 2016 at the MACK - Museum of Contemporary Art in Crotone. In 2019 his works became part of the private collection of the Four Seasons Hotel in London. He now lives and works in Rome.
