Formae

THE POP SPIRIT OF METAL

The story of the Formae brand originates in the valleys of Arezzo from the new generation of a family company, Laura and Simone Tramonti. The heart of the business is the metal carpentry where the forty-year experience of their father, Gennaro Tramonti, is held and the vision is to transform this skills in a design-oriented project.

The Formae collections, designed with the art direction of Leonardo Fortino and in collaboration with several designers, are conceived as functional domestic presences, featuring pure geometries and linear surfaces, deliberately simple and embellished by craftsmanship.

A short description of your collection.
The main trait of Formae furnishings, in addition to the aesthetic, clean and geometric aspect, is empathy, the ability to be able to create a special relationship with those who decide to bring these products to their homes. I like to think that they are considered roommates, domestic totems capable of both amplifying moments of sharing and of mitigating our loneliness.

What inspires you?
Our father has always worked the metal. My brother Simone and I have lived in the workshop since childhood; it was easy to grow with the idea that through iron you can do an infinite number of things. Formae was born precisely in this context, from the desire to transform our family skills in the light of a design-oriented vision.

Your style in three words.
Dreamlike, empathetic, popular. On our facebook page we asked each of our designers three words to describe Formae and its characteristics. These are the adjectives that most impressed me.

Detail makes a difference... What’s yours?
The ability to combine industry and craftsmanship to create accurate and democratic products, designed for people and their real needs.

Which object do you wish to design?
We have many projects in the drawer, but for me the most important thing is to keep the concept of objects: minimal, geometric, desirable with a discreet charm, never over the top.

If your brand was a song?
Otis Redding's "Sitting on the dock of the bay": the whistled verse is a hymn to joy in a pop key, which I would like to reverberate, through a small echo, in all the Formae collections.
